“The Five Stages of Transition” with Frederica Peterson, Leadership Consultant, Executive Coach and Facilitator, is an intensive virtual on-demand class that will introduce you to 5 fundamental stages to help you manage through times of transition.

“Life be lifin’!”  I have said it and heard it so much over the past six months, I need to trademark it! There are so many people in transition right now for a variety of reasons. Whether it be because of an unexpected job loss, career transition, divorce, or just the normal change of life seasons. We all go through it. We call it life cycles.  However, how you go through these cycles are very important; it can be the difference between your next best life season or your worst. A determining factor of your season is the presence of fear. It is the one thing that can get in the way of moving through your life cycles and into your new seasons.

We all experience fear at some point in our life. Even the most confident people have fears. Most of the fear we harbor is rooted in our past experiences.  Something has left an imprint on us that created an outcome in our mind. It could be from actual experience, related experience or created from our paradigms. A paradigm is the view we have of the world which is formed from past experiences, information we have received first hand, or through other sources such as books, news articles, social media, friends, family, mentors, coaches, etc. The challenge is that we have to be mindful of the things we allow to shape our thoughts and beliefs. Oftentimes it is the subconscious mind that is our greatest saboteur.

When you are in a difficult season that requires you to make some tough or scary decisions, it is important to be thoughtful, present and well informed. You should also be cautious about the information you are allowing yourself to digest. Whether it be social media, TV, music, or even the people you are around. If any of it is confirming a heightened fear, giving you anxiety, pulling you away from the people or things that you love or stealing your peace, you need to be cautious.

In this season of transition, you should be feeding yourself with information that is nourishing you. Not comparing yourself to others, getting mad at other people, blaming others for your current situation, or finding reasons that confirm why you can’t do something. You should be filling yourself with possibilities, allowing your mind to go to places that allow you to dream and explore, and removing boundaries that are keeping you stuck.
